Most of us are aware of Singapore's standing in recent world survey of indicators for economic, business, intellectual capital, financial, technology and innovation. Though the Republic was ranked 1st in the category of "Ease of Doing Business", we did not fare too well in the other categories. In particular, the "Technology IQ and Innovation" Category where Singapore came in rock bottom on the list of 11 cities surveyed worldwide.
In the face of such challenges, it was timely and apt that the Singapore High Technology Association, known as SHTA was launched on 11th April 2007 in conjunction with the book launch of "Breakout Strategy".
The launch and subsequent Breakout Strategy workshops were vibrant and spirited, graced by our distinguished Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Edwin Chow, Deputy Director, Technology Innovation, SPRING Singapore, Mr. Chris Chan, President of SHTA and Dr. Thomas Lawton, Director of Joint Honours Programmes & Associate Professor, Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London.
